“It’s forever evolving,” says Shox of the music he DJs on his Rinse FM show. This statement describes the DJ/Producer from East London consummately. Starting out as a UK garage lover, James Morreale set about collecting rare whites and anthems from today’s veterans such as Zed Bias & Zinc who he can now class as supporters of his music. Fast forward to the present and the skills and influences he picked up from that era along with his versatility as a producer have taken him across the globe to perform to thousands. He controls the airwaves on the world renowned Rinse FM every Sunday 1500-1700 and his recent reformatting of the programme with weekly live guests and interviews has seen some of the world’s most sought after talent such as Roy Davis Jnr, James Welsh, Curses! & New York Transit Authority drop by to hang with him.
As well as being an experienced radio broadcaster and versatile DJ, Shox is also one of the most exciting producers actively releasing music currently. He works closely with London based label Audio Doughnuts putting out a string of releases with them and is currently working on an LP set for later in the year not too mention he’s an affiliate of NYC’s forefront label and brand, Trouble & Bass, Portugal’s finest Buraka Som Sistema and their imprint Enchufada and also releases with Rinse counterpart, Roska and works closely with the team at Red Bull Studios London.
His latest releases include ‘Hi Grade/Eyes Down EP’ which saw support from BBC Radio 1′s Mistajam, Benji B & B-Traits plus his latest remix of ‘Push It’ for newcomer Debian Blak stormed the airwaves with support from Radio 1, 6Music, XFM, Kiss FM not too mention Clash Magazine and i-D Magazine. With a mountain of fresh releases and remixes set for the rest year as well as releases under his ‘Renegades’ guise with Drop The Lime & Plastician, the continuation of his weekly Rinse show and gigs across the land we suggest you keep your eyes and ears firmly locked to Shox.
