Kicking off proceedings in October we are proud to bring back Eliphino. He played in the very same space in January and those who were there know what this man can do. The last time though, this event was pay on the door and we were at capacity within half an hour, leaving a massive queue of people who couldn’t get in. To make up for it, this time the event is ticketed allowing you plenty chance to bag one and avoid disappointment. Do not wait up!
Like many producers, Leeds native Eliphino took to beatmaking at a young age, saving up to buy an MPC so he could start making music. His first productions were strongly influenced by hip-hop, garnering comparisons to artists like Madlib and other LA experimentalists based on his Out of Phase and Seasons EPs.
Now residing in London, he’s broadened his sound palette with devastating effects and now specialises in sounds and styles of house and garage. Recent releases have featured on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Electric compilation as well as a trio of EPs for the burgeoning Somethink Sounds label, which have given an ever more enthusiastic public, radio and club DJs plenty reasons to pay ever more attention. Perhaps best known for the massive synth garage hit ‘More Than Me’ and the hectic club drum anthem ‘Vrybdy’, Eliphino has found himself in demand with a small but considered selection of remixes for labels such as Ed Banger, First Word, Hoya Hoya and Take Recordings. His DJ sets are eclectic incorporating sounds from a wide spectrum including hip hop, garage, house, rnb, techno and jungle but never losing the flow of your feet or the need to keep moving on.
The single I Don’t Care on Hypercolour has been in huge demand for a long, long time now. Finally being unleashed in September 2013, it maintains his trademark blend of house and garage whilst continuing to stay ahead of the trend.
Support on the night comes from Different Drum residents Vandelay and Almost.
